Douglas Firs is Gertjan Van Hellemont (°1987), classical trained guitarist, but also a singer and songwriter with a love for singer-songwriters like Ryan Adams and James Taylor, the pop melodies of The Beatles, and the country blues of North Mississippi Allstars. After a performance people sometimes mention the influences of Neil Young, Grant-Lee Phillips or Jackson Browne. Then Gertjan sometimes reacts with surprise because he had not necessarily intended it that way but if people hear it, then it is probably true.
