Musikometro 2011

The Brussels Accordion Band was founded in 1912. 90 years later, on 25 May 2002, a chromatic accordion teacher, Piet Maris (Jaune Toujours), set up a new accordion band with his pupils and other interested people in the time-honoured Brussels tradition. The Nouvelle Harmonie Bruxelloise d’Accordéons turned out for the first time that day in impressive form (33 accordionists) during the Zinneke Parade in Brussels (a carnival-like but very colourful and alternative biennial parade).
On the programme : an accordion repertoire that has been thoroughly reworked and given a new dynamic – tangos, waltzes, bourrées, Balkan numbers, ska and much more…
